Hi and welcome to a special edition of Open House. We’re celebrating a decade of Tenancy Deposit Protection, with the 10th anniversary of the launch of TDP in England and Wales.

A lot has changed since 2007, both in the lettings industry and here at The DPS, so let's get nostalgic as we take a trip down memory lane.

In this month's issue:

› 10 years of The DPS - Take a look at how far we've come

› PRS update - Our latest update about what's happening in the private rented sector

› The DPS Charity Donations Fund  - A major step forward for CINTRE

› Be the adjudicator - Security, but at what cost?

Enjoy the read!

The DPS is 10! The journey has only just begun

On 6 April 2007, the Private Rented Sector as we know it changed dramatically. The Government introduced Tenancy Deposit Protection to bring about higher standards in the lettings industry. With that, The DPS was created!

A lot has changed in the past 10 years, both in the lettings industry and here at The DPS, so, to celebrate our birthday we've written 'our story' - a look back at the first 10 years of Tenancy Deposit Protection.

Take five, put your feet up and have a read about our journey over the last decade.

Keeping our finger on the pulse of the Private Rented Sector

As promised in our last update, we’re letting you know about some key changes in the PRS with our latest video update. We cover:

> Housing and Planning Act changes

> An update in relation to the consultations around the banning of letting agent fees and mandatory client money protection

> Being extra vigilant and aware of scam/phishing emails

Head over to our YouTube channel, DPS TV, and watch our Head of Tenancy Deposit Protection, Daren, discuss the topics in a little more detail.

A major step forward for CINTRE

We're always eager to hear back from the charities we've supported, and how our donations have helped them continue doing great work in their communities.

A while ago, we awarded £5,000 to CINTRE Reachout South West, a charity that helps those with learning difficulties live independent lives.

Over on our blog, we caught up with Neil Baker from CINTRE, to chat about how the donation helped them invest in a property in Bristol.

Be the adjudicator - Security but at what cost?

In this month’s 'Be the adjudicator', being security conscious causes friction between the tenant and landlord.

Take the adjudicator’s seat and consider the evidence now.
